Board Of Directors
Our
Objectives
-
To promote women’s access to
resources and opportunities
-
To promote and celebrate
women’s successes
-
To support women in becoming
economically independent through creating sustainable
livelihoods.
-
To assist with
self-reliance, raise self-esteem and a positive self-concept.
What is a
sustainable livelihood?
A livelihood is much more than
a job or income generating activity. Women’s livelihoods include
the resources and supports to move beyond basic income generation
towards increased economic resiliency . When a woman has the
skills, knowledge and confidence to find new work, as well as a
reserve of resources and broad support networks, she has developed
a livelihood for herself.

Dawn Pringle, manager of the South River branch
of the Kawartha Credit Union, presents a $1,000 cheque to
Wendy MacCrimmon, representing the board of the
Women’s Own Resource Centre (WORC). Kawartha
Credit Union’s Community Dividend program sees
annual donations — equal to the value of a five
per cent dividend on membership shares — go
toward projects considered important to the
overall well-being of communities. The WORC will
use the donation for their community
programming. |
