Welcome to the
WOMEN'S OWN RESOURCE CENTRE

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Women's Own Resource Centre is to provide women with opportunities and choices to achieve success.

Vision Statement

The Women's Own Resource Centre's vision is to enable women to achieve their full potential.

                                                                                      Board Of Directors

Our Objectives
  • To promote women’s access to resources and opportunities

  • To promote and celebrate women’s successes

  • To support women in becoming economically independent through creating sustainable livelihoods.

  • To assist with self-reliance, raise self-esteem and a positive self-concept.

What is a sustainable livelihood?

A livelihood is much more than a job or income generating activity.  Women’s livelihoods include the resources and supports to move beyond basic income generation towards increased economic resiliency . When a woman has the skills, knowledge and confidence to find new work, as well as a reserve of resources and broad support networks, she has developed a livelihood for herself.

WORC Programs Funding:

Dawn Pringle, manager of the South River branch of the Kawartha Credit Union, presents a $1,000 cheque to Wendy MacCrimmon, representing the board of the Women’s Own Resource Centre (WORC). Kawartha Credit Union’s Community Dividend program sees annual donations — equal to the value of a five per cent dividend on membership shares — go toward projects considered important to the overall well-being of communities. The WORC will use the donation for their community programming.
